- About Marcia -
Marcia Edwards was admitted to the Tasmanian Bar in 2022.
​
She was admitted to the Supreme Court in Victoria in 2019.
​
Marcia spent over 20 years as a Prosecutor at Victoria Police.
​
Marcia served in the Victorian Police force for 27 years- most of this time as a Prosecutor in various courts throughout Melbourne.
​
Marcia accepts both defense and prosecution briefs in criminal and quasi criminal matters, appearing before all courts.
Over the last two decades she has regularly appeared in the Magistrates' Court and Children's Court at all stages of criminal proceedings.
​
She has appeared in matters including intervention order hearings and summary contested hearings relating to drug offences, drink driving, assaults against the person and family violence. Marcia was a highly skilled Police Prosecutor handling all matters running contested hearings regularly.
​
During her time as a Police Sergeant with Victoria Police she was seconded to the Royal Commission into the Management of Police informants (Disclosure Team).
​
Marcia has run Summary Case Conference and Contest mention teams for Victoria Police.
Marcia comes to the bar with extensive experience as an advocate.
She is well known for her advocacy skills developed over numerous years of court appearances.
​
She has chaired sporting tribunals over the last 15 years.
​
Marcia is also a qualified Mediator (NMAS)
Marcia has experience in written advocacy and advice relating to evidence, criminal procedure and sentencing.
In addition to her legal qualifications, Marcia also has a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Certificate in Police Prosecution.

After raising 5 children whilst working as a prosecutor Marcia was offered an opportunity to read with Greg Barns SC as her Senior Master, and Todd Kovacic in Hobart.
